Whether you need a knockout bracket for 8 teams or a full round robin league, Playinga generates the matches and places every team in the draw. No spreadsheets and no manual pairing.
Single elimination: lose and you are out. A knockout bracket for N teams has N-1 matches. When the number of teams is not a power of two (for example 12 or 20), some players pass over the first round. Playinga lets you give those places to your seeded players, and winners move into the next round automatically.
Players are out only after losing twice. Everyone starts in the winners bracket, and a first loss drops you into the losers bracket for a second chance. A double elimination bracket for N teams has about 2N-2 matches, so strong players are not knocked out by one bad game.
Every team plays every other team once. N teams play N x (N-1) / 2 matches, so 8 teams play 28 matches. Round robin is the fairest format for leagues and small tournaments, and standings update after every match.
Split teams into groups, play a round robin inside each group, then send the top teams into a knockout bracket. This is the format used by most cricket, football and kabaddi tournaments. For example, 16 teams in 4 groups of 4 play 24 group matches before the playoffs.
Group players into teams, then let two teams meet in a tie made up of several matches, such as men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles and mixed doubles. It is the structure used in team events like the Sudirman Cup, and ties are played in round robin or league format. You define the matches in each tie. Available on PRO plans.
